200 hours of work, 250 thousand orders processed, 100% success: Figure AI robots

Humanoids from the North American company did this in a livestream, without experiencing any hardware failures.

The North American company Figure AI recently completed a 200-hour live YouTube broadcast featuring his humanoid robots Figure 03 working autonomously, in a test of resistance and continuous operation in a logistical environment that proved to be as impressive as it was frightening.

During the demonstration, Figure robots processed 249,560 orders without registering any hardware failure considered critical — there were only occasional drops of orders and items placed in the wrong orientation, which according to the company did not affect the operation.

According to Brett Adcock, the company’s executive director, the trial began as a response to an eight-hour challenge launched by Scott Walter, an industrial automation veteran. Figure had already announced, on May 14, that its robots had exceeded 24 hours of continuous autonomous work.

The test took place at the company’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, and involved three humanoid robots equipped with artificial intelligence system Helix-02.

During the operation, the humanoids picked small orders without ever stopping, using built-in cameras and AI reasoning capabilities to detect barcodes, grab packages and place them on conveyor belts with the code facing down.

The company ended up placing visible labels with names chosen by the audience who followed the very long livestream, noted . When the 200-hour goal was reached, the team celebrated behind the workstation while “Rose,” one of the robots, continued picking orders.

Figure used a autonomous fleet rotation system to keep everything moving. When a robot’s battery — with an autonomy of approximately four hours — became low, another unit automatically took over the task. The unloaded robot then moved to a wireless charging base integrated into the feet.

Comparison with humans

The company claims that human workers process, on average, an order every three seconds, and that Figure 03s are already approaching that rate.

The Helix-02 is described by the company as a unified neural network that combines vision, touch and full body control. Unlike traditional industrial robots, which rely on separate systems for locomotion and manipulation, Figure says its model allows walking, balance, coordination and object handling to be managed in a single system.

The company valued at 39 billion dollars intends to bring humanoid robots to warehouses, factories and logistics operations. It competes in this sector with companies such as Tesla, Agility Robotics and Apptronik.

At the end of last year, the company NEO created a robot similar to Figure 03, but this one is dedicated to domestic tasks — with a twist.
