Aircraft crashed in residential area of Nova Iguaçu; 69-year-old victim was the only person on board
A small plane crashed this Saturday (May 30, 2026) into a house in the city of Nova Iguaçu (RJ), in Baixada Fluminense. The pilot died.
The accident occurred on Rua Irmãos Moreira, in the Vila Bandeirantes neighborhood, close to the local airfield. The pilot, identified as Lucas Augusto da Silva Neto, aged 69, was the only person on board and was found dead. The occupants of the residence were not injured.
The Fire Department was called at 9:45 am and the place was isolated for the work of the competent bodies. Technicians from Cenipa (Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center) will conduct the investigation to determine the causes of the accident.
