The army of United States attacked a vessel in the Eastern Pacific on Saturday (30), in which three men died, authorities said. The most recent attack brings the total number of deaths to more than 200according to an AFP count, since President Donald Trump’s administration began its offensive in September.

In a publication on X, the US Southern Command stated that “the vessel was transiting known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was involved in drug trafficking operations.”

“Three narco-terrorist men died during the action,” he added. Black and white images that accompanied the publication showed the vessel in the open sea before being involved in a large explosion.

The American Armed Forces launched operation “Southern Spear” in early September, after Trump insisted that Washington is, in practice, at war with drug cartels operating in Latin America. But his government did not present definitive evidence that the attacked vessels were involved in drug trafficking.

Legal experts and human rights groups indicate that the attacks may constitute extrajudicial killings, as they appear to have targeted civilians who do not pose an immediate threat to the United States.
