Migration should reduce the deadline for negotiating FGTS debts

Prosecutor’s Office says integration will allow for faster agreements and near real-time monitoring of fund collection

The migration of the collection of debts registered in the active debt of the Service Time Guarantee Fund to the PGFN system (Attorney General’s Office of the National Treasury) should reduce the time needed to negotiate debts and expand the capacity to monitor collection results.

“We are going to increase this charge and charge in a smarter, more modern and faster way”declared the deputy attorney general for the Union’s Active Debt and FGTS, Theo Lucas Borges de Lima, this Monday (June 1, 2026).

The prosecutor’s office’s expectation is that the simplification of processes will contribute to increasing the recovery of resources allocated to the fund, which finances benefits for workers and housing, sanitation and infrastructure programs. Furthermore, it will be possible to pay debts with up to 20% of the fund, through Desenrola 2.0.

Another expected effect is the improvement in the quality and speed of information available for billing monitoring. Currently, FGTS collection data reaches the prosecutor’s office with a delay of approximately 60 days.

With the integration, PGFN will monitor payments practically in real time, a model already used in the management of the Union’s active debt.

In 2025, PGFN managed to recover R$1.9 billion. According to Borges de Lima, this year’s numbers have not yet been consolidated and are only available until March.
