Pradales says that “there is no path” for Feijóo’s motion of censure proposal

The Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, has assured that “there is no path” for the proposal of the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, for a motion of censure instrumental to call elections. In an interview on 3cat, he stated that this approach “parts of an equation that incorporates an actor, like Vox” that makes it impossible for the PNV to enter it.

Pradales has explained that the formation of Santiago Abascal is in Euskadi the “image of Francoism” and the expression of “antagonism with self-government, identity and the Basque language.” He has insisted that the presence of Vox is a “red line” for the PNV, that it will never participate “in any operation” in which it is present and has highlighted that Basque society is “very critical” of this political movement and is “vaccinated” regarding formulas that are occurring throughout Europe.

However, the Lehendakari has considered that the current political situation and the response to his proposal should make the leader of the Popular Party “reflect” and that the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has to “take steps” in favor of transparency if he wants to continue with the legislature.

He recalled that in addition to the PNV’s position, we must take into account the statements of the general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, who urged Feijóo to present his proposal directly to Carles Puigdemont at a meeting in Waterloo.

Regarding what the President of the Government should do at a “very delicate” moment in the legislature like the current one, the Lehendakari has indicated that in the coming weeks and months there will be “critical moments” that he should resolve by “giving explanations, being transparent and showing his face” to public opinion on all issues. “When there are issues like those that are becoming known, it is essential to be exemplary, to give explanations,” stressed Pradales, who has opted for Sánchez to maintain a “fluid” relationship with the parties that supported his investiture. He has lamented the current political situation in Spain in which “everything ends up being reduced to a tweet and a headline, with very little exemplarity and respect”, which ends up causing “disaffection and distancing” of citizens from politics.

After maintaining that the bridges between the PSOE and the PP are “absolutely broken” and that this is “very bad” for politics, Pradales explained that this situation of polarization “to date” has not taken its toll on the PNV-PSE coalition that maintains its Government in Euskadi, which has a “work climate that is going well.” (EFE)
