Trump says Iran agreed not to have nuclear weapons

US President reveals that Khamenei participates directly in peace agreement negotiations with Washington

The President of the United States, (Republican Party), stated this Wednesday (June 3, 2026) that Iran has given up on developing. In an interview with a podcast, the Republican also announced that he intends to meet with the Iranian supreme leader, and said that he participates directly in the peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

Trump stated that the meeting between the leaders will be held “at some point” and demonstrated confidence in the progress of negotiations. Regarding the Iranian nuclear program, he stated: “They have already agreed that they will not have nuclear weapons”. According to the president, “the situation is evolving rapidly” and the outcome of the conversations “It’s going to be really good.”

The statements were made amid a scenario of tension between the 2 countries, marked by successive violations of the ceasefire recorded by both sides.

PEACE NEGOTIATIONS

The United States and Iran are negotiating a peace agreement whose main objective is to resolve impasses related to Iran’s nuclear program. The agreement between countries has been in force since April 7, but has been the target of recurring violations.

Another sensitive point in the conflict is the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to navigation since the beginning of the clashes. The passage is strategic for global energy trade, as around 20% of world oil production transits through the region. In negotiations, Washington seeks to guarantee Tehran’s commitment not to develop nuclear weapons.
