Zelensky testifies as a victim of the accident at the Elevador da Glória. Family asks for more than a million

The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, is one of the witnesses appointed by the family of one of the victims of the accident at the Elevador da Glória, in an action in which compensation of more than one million euros is demanded from Carris, Fidelidade and the company responsible for maintaining the equipment, Mntc.

According to , Ana Paula, an employee at Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Lisbon, was part of the team responsible for the adoption processes, which she coordinated for a few years. On the day of the accident, the September 3 last year, she was heading to a meeting with a friend, who ended up alerting her to her disappearance, after finding her absence and the fact that she was unable to contact her strange.

The administrative action was filed this week by the victim’s husband and daughter in Lisbon Circle Administrative Court. Through this legal process, the two family members intend to obtain financial compensation for the various damages resulting from the accident.

According to the lawsuit presented, the victim’s husband lived hours of uncertainty and anguish after the accident, trying to obtain information from different sources, including colleagues, authorities and health professionals, without being able to confirm his wife’s whereabouts for a long period.

In the action, the family demands compensation of more than one million eurosjustifying the request with the loss of life, the moral damages suffered by family members and also the financial losses associated with Ana Paula’s early death, including future income.

The accident occurred when the underground cable connecting the two elevators broke, causing the derailment of the cabin that followed Ana Paula and another colleague who survived. The elevator ended up colliding with a building and public lighting poles, resulting in 16 dead and 22 injured.
