When tens of thousands of people come every night to see and share millions of videos that immortalize every gesture of the artist, it is strange to think that on this day, exactly 50 years ago, a concert was held that was probably witnessed by fewer people than those who twerk every night in but that could have changed popular music forever. A gig recreated in at least two films (24 Hour Party People y Control) and chosen by the magazine NME as “the most important musical event of all time.” We are talking about the Sex Pistols concert on June 4, 1976 at the Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester.
