Japan’s national team is making a brief stop in Monterrey, Mexico, on its way to the World Cup, but the first few days of preparation have not been ideal.
The Japanese team changed its training location this Thursday (4) after finding conditions considered unsatisfactory in the field initially used, belonging to .
Images of the training held at Tigres’ facilities went viral on Mexican social media on Wednesday (3), showing a pitch with visible signs of wear.
Although the Japanese delegation did not officially inform the reason for the change, the players went to another region of the Monterrey metropolitan area and trained at El Barrial, the training center of Monterrey, Tigres’ local rival.
Japan will establish its base of operations in Nashville, in the state of Tennessee, in the United States, but will only arrive in the city next Monday (8).
The Japanese team debuts on June 14, against the Netherlands, in . They will then face Tunisia on June 20th at the Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, home of Monterrey, before returning to Arlington to face Sweden on June 25th.
