On Thursday, an appalling case took place in one of the facilities providing family environment replacement and professional assistance to families at risk in the Michalovce district. „According to the findings so far, the juvenile, placed in the facility on the basis of a court decision, had to endanger the life of a minor child for as yet unknown reasons.” the police said on the social network.
The murder attempt was prevented by an employee of the facility, who intervened with presence of mind. She helped the child and immediately alerted the police. Law enforcement officers restricted the juvenile’s personal freedom and, after performing the necessary procedural steps, placed him in a police custody cell.
„Due to the seriousness of the act, the case was taken over by the investigator of the criminal police department of the Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Košice, who initiated a criminal prosecution for a particularly serious crime of murder committed in the attempted stage. Experts from various departments will be brought in for further proceedings, and after the preparation of expert opinions, a decision will be made on the further course of action in the matter,” the police added.
Due to the sensitivity of the case, the police cannot provide further details. However, they publicly paid tribute to the employee whose quick reaction saved an innocent child’s life.
