Tennis player Carlos Alcaraz misses Roland Garros due to injury and chooses this beach in southern Portugal to rest

Meet the beach south of Lisbon whose access costs 42 € and where a shadow can reach 200 €

The professional tennis circuit continues to be marked by high physical demands and recovery periods that condition the presence of the main athletes in major international tournaments. In this context, Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz is once again in the news, this time for reasons linked to his physical management and the competitive calendar.

According to , the Spanish number one took advantage of last Sunday, May 31, to spend some rest time at the Jncquoi Beach Club, located in Praia do Pego, in Comporta, municipality of Alcácer do Sal.

Break in Portuguese territory

The player was accompanied by friends and returned to a destination he already knows well. According to the same source, Portugal has been a recurring choice for break periods between competitions, functioning as a place for physical and mental recovery.

The trip to the south of the country takes place at a time when the athlete is recovering from an injury to his right wrist, suffered during a match against Finn Otto Virtanen, at the ATP in Barcelona. The physical problem interrupted the tennis player’s preparation for the following tournaments on the circuit.

Absences confirmed in the calendar

The injury directly impacted participation in some of the main events on the calendar. One of the competitions in question is Roland Garros, in Paris, which runs until June 7th, a competition that the Spaniard won in 2024 and 2025.

The decision to withdraw also extends to other important tournaments. The tennis player indicated that, as a precaution, he will not be present at Wimbledon or the ATP 500 at the Queen’s Club, in London.

Non-circuit impact

Alcaraz’s absence changes the competitive scenario of the grass and clay circuit, at a time when the main names in world tennis adjust their preparation for the season’s major tournaments.

The Spanish player, who already won Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024 and reached the final in 2025, where he was defeated by the Italian Jannik Sinner, is now entering a period of recovery without an immediate competitive calendar defined.

Physical condition management thus becomes the central factor in deciding whether to return to competition, in a circuit where the tight schedule continues to put pressure on the main athletes.
