Check out 10 games you probably wouldn’t watch outside of the World Cup

After four years of waiting, football lovers are looking forward to the start of another World Cup. The 2026 edition will be the first with 48 teams, but not all games will gain special attention from fans.

with Brazil, Argentina, France, Spain among other great teams parading through the fields of the United States, Canada and Mexico. On the other hand, non-traditional teams will also be on the field, such as Qatar, Cape Verde and Jordan.

In fact, some clashes in this World Cup wouldn’t get as much attention if it weren’t for the competition. This is the case of the South Africa x South Korea duel, valid for Group A.

The clash between the two teams would go unnoticed if it were a mere friendly. However, it may have some appeal in the World Cup, as it will be held in the last round, which could affect the fight for qualifying for the knockout stage.

Group B can be considered the least attractive group. , Canada does not have as much tradition in the sport and will find other teams — Bosnia and Qatar — without playing in the competition. Only Switzerland has relevant participation in history.

Attention focused on Iran

In Group G, Iran x New Zealand would go unnoticed by Brazilians, but it is one more ingredient to accompany Iran’s debut on North American soil.

Among the participants in European football, Austria debuts in Argentina’s group against Jordan on June 17th at an unusual time: 1 am (Brasília time). This is the kind of clash that, if it weren’t for the World Cup, few would stay awake to.
