The Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, stated this Friday (12), in an interview with the program Alô, Alô, Brasil, on Rádio Nacional, that the government will announce by the end of the month the Unwind for defaulters. According to him, Novo Desenrola should reach 10 million debtors by the end of June.
“We are going to announce until the end of the month Desenrola for defaulters, either through Fies, for those who are in compliance with the program, or for people who currently have a credit operation with banks, pay for this operation and will receive a reinforcement to continue paying. Because the value that I value here is the payment, it is whoever is paying on time”, he stated.
Durigan also said he was confident in the approval of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) that provides for the end of the 6×1 scale and which is being processed in the Senate.
“I think that, by organizing this conversation with President Davi Alcolumbre and the other senators, the issue of ending the 6 to 1 scale — opening an extra day of rest for workers — can move forward. I really believe in this and I have been working and talking with President Davi so that this can move forward and not be hampered by other minor issues,” he said.
Renegotiation of rural debts
In the same interview, Durigan stated that the rural debt renegotiation bill could harm the sector, by limiting the supply of credit and setting a dangerous precedent if other groups also start to defend interest rate adjustments at a cost to the government.
“I always take the arguments I have, the best arguments that I collect from the team and hear from the market, and I take them to Congress to try to convince parliamentarians and point out the risks”, he stated about the dialogue with the Legislature.
Durigan also said he had seen senators complain about the level of interest rates, although, according to him, measures approved by Congress itself, such as the renegotiation of agribusiness debts, also have an impact on this scenario.
“Just yesterday I saw posts from senators complaining about interest rates, economic problems, but it was the senators themselves who approved the agribusiness renegotiation measure, which will have an impact on this”, he added.
