Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates are once again dealing with the Microsoft co-founder’s past and his former ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
This week, Bill Gates testified before the US Congress about his past interactions and his ex-wife recently speaking about her “visceral reaction” to the late convicted sex offender.
In an interview with Guardian published on Saturday (13), Melinda French Gates, a philanthropist who divorced Gates in 2021, said she had nightmares after a meeting with Epstein and was shaken when speaking to the reporter about her impressions of the man who almost ended the interview.
“Have you ever been in the presence of someone who you just know is bad?” French Gates reflected to Guardian about his initial impressions of Epstein. She told the interviewer at the time that her heart was “racing,” according to the report.
“We need to listen to our feelings about people,” he added to Guardian. “That’s enough. I can’t answer any more questions.”
The ex-wife of Bill Gates, who called Epstein an “abhorrent human being, a horrible man” and, at one point in the interview, admitted that “this is a difficult topic for me,” told the interviewer that she was having a “visceral reaction” to the questions she was receiving, according to the report. Guardian.
Advocating for more transparency to ensure justice for all of Epstein’s victims, she emphasized that “the justice system hasn’t done its job. It hasn’t done its job. Period.”
Just days before the interview was published, her ex-husband was on Capitol Hill behind closed doors to the House Oversight Committee, after the release of Epstein documents earlier this year raised questions about her ties to the late convicted sex offender.
These documents revealed a series of graphic and unverified allegations and a degree of philanthropic coordination between Gates and Epstein that was more detailed than previously known.
The interview was one of the most high-profile so far before the committee and came after Melinda French Gates previously suggested that any questions related to Epstein should be answered by her ex-husband and others.
Gates was introduced to Epstein in 2011 and testified that the late convicted sex offender promised he could raise billions of dollars for global health.
He told lawmakers that he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and about his personal life — including the fact that he had been unfaithful in his marriage — to pressure him to resume contact after the relationship ended, the report reported. CNN.
“I discovered that Epstein learned sensitive information about my personal life, including the fact that I had been unfaithful in my marriage. These instances were unrelated to my interactions with Epstein, but they were painful for my family,” Gates testified Wednesday, according to his prepared statements.
Gates described his interactions with Epstein as “limited” and stated in his testimony that they ended completely in December 2014.
Still, the meeting with Epstein, he told lawmakers, was a “” on his part.
“As the public can now see, based on what has been released in the files, Epstein was trying to use information about my infidelities — plus the many lies he added to it — to pressure me into resuming contact with him. He was unsuccessful in that attempt, but this shows some of the ways he tried to use his interactions with me to further his own agenda. I should never have met with Epstein in the first place,” Gates said, according to his prepared statements.
