The producer in Brazil responsible for the fictional film about the story of former president Jair Bolsonaro, Karina Ferreira Gama, presented an expert report declaring that R$75 million were spent on the production of “Dark Horse” and that all of these amounts came from a fund based in the United States and controlled by allies of Eduardo Bolsonaro.
It was this same fund, Havengate, that received around US$10.6 million (approximately R$61 million) in contributions from banker Daniel Vorcaro, from Banco Master, requested by senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).
The expert report, revealed on Friday, 12, on the website Metropolisesdoes not say who the financiers were. According to the information already made public about the transfers determined by Vorcaro, the data indicates that the resources of the owner of Banco Master covered more than 80% of the film’s costs.
The expert reports that the production of the film in Brazil cost US$3.7 million (the equivalent of R$20.9 million), while the costs in the United States were US$9.6 million (R$54.2 million).
Karina Gama’s defense commissioned the report to rebut the suspicions of a Civil Police investigation that a contract between the City of São Paulo and the Instituto conhecimento Brasil had been diverted to supply the film’s production. The NGO belongs to Karina.
The expert report concludes that the resources used in “Dark Horse” were of private origin and supplied by the Havengate fund, but does not present details about these financiers.
“As determined by this expert opinion, the Havengate Development Fund LP signed a contract on February 24, 2025 to invest in the film Dark Horse. As of the date of preparation of this report, the contribution made amounts to US$ 13,393,081.29”, says the report.
Messages from Daniel Vorcaro’s cell phone show that the payments made by him at Flávio’s request were destined for this Havengate fund and totaled at least US$10.6 million. The fund was represented by the office of Paulo Calixto, who is also Eduardo Bolsonaro’s lawyer.
