Norway: Princess's son convicted of two counts of rape and domestic violence

Her ancestor Crown Prince Haakon was found guilty of two and other offenses and sentenced to four years, an Oslo court ruled today.

Heavy indictment of the princess’s son

Marius Borg Hoibi, 29, who joined the royal family in 2001 when his mother Mette-Marit married Haakon, was cleared of two more rape charges.

He pleads not guilty

He had pleaded not guilty to the most serious charges against him, including rape, while admitting to some lesser charges.

The right to appeal

He has the right to appeal the verdict. Prosecutors had asked that Hoibi be sentenced to seven years and seven months in prison.
