Leaders of the G7 countries agreed on Tuesday at a summit in France to increase pressure on Russia by imposing additional sanctions aimed at the oil and gas sector. Referring to a French diplomatic source, AFP reported about it, writes TASR.

“Leaders decided today to increase pressure on Russia through gas and oil sanctions,” the source said after talks at the G7 summit in the French spa town of Évian-les-Bains. Details of the upcoming measures have not yet been published.
The group must exert pressure
The G7 summit is being held with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, while one of its main topics is the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine and the possibilities of achieving peace.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer declared before the G7 leaders’ talks on the war in Ukraine that the United Kingdom, together with its allies, will continue to increase the pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and his circle of associates “until the Russian war machine stops and peace returns to our continent.”
According to the British Prime Minister, the G7 countries should act even more strongly to ensure that Ukraine achieves “the just and lasting peace it deserves”.
