If you were to meet him today, you would probably think he was Bigfoot: The extinct giant ape Gigantopithecus blacki was probably three meters tall when standing and weighed more than 500 kilograms. For comparison: male gorillas usually do not weigh more than 250 kilograms. That means G. blacki could be the largest great ape that ever lived.
