A Ukrainian Sukhoi Su-24 tactical bomber crashed in Khmelnytskyi region in the west of Ukrainemilitary officials reported on Tuesday. The pilot and navigator died in the accident, writes TASR according to the DPA agency and The Kyiv Independent website.
The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that the incident took place on Tuesday evening. No civilian casualties were reported. “The cause and circumstances of this tragedy are under investigation,” the military said. Security forces and rescuers are currently on the scene.
The Khmelnytsky region is located approximately 160 kilometers north of the border with Moldova. The Kyiv Independent emphasizes, that the Starokonstantinov military air base is located in this region, where the seventh tactical aviation brigade is located, to which the two victims of Tuesday’s accident belonged.
