Congress has 90 presidential vetoes pending analysis, with 934 provisions still without deliberation
The National Congress will hold a joint session on Thursday (June 18, 2026), at 10 am, in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies, to analyze some of the pending presidential vetoes. According to the President of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP), there are 90 vetoes awaiting deliberation, totaling 934 devices. The expectation is that the session will be long and that at least half of the items on the agenda will be discussed.
To define priorities, the Government Leadership team in the Senate will forward a spreadsheet to party leaders. Between Tuesday night (June 16) and 10 am on Thursday (June 18), leaders must indicate which vetoes they consider to be priorities for voting. According to the leader of the Government in the Senate, Senator (PT-AP), the Executive’s main concern is vetoes with the potential to generate a high fiscal impact.
