“I’m the boss”, jokes Trump when he arrives late for the G7 meeting

The President of the United States, (Republican Party), jokingly stated this Wednesday (June 17, 2026) what is the “boss”during a summit session held in France. The meeting was marked by discussions on the war in Ukraine, economic security and critical minerals.

According to the North American newspaper Trump arrived almost an hour late to the first meeting of the day and, upon entering the room, complained about the heat in the room. Then, as he went to his seat at the main table, he made comments in a good-natured tone as he assumed the prominent position.

“I am the boss”Trump told present leaders and journalists who had temporary access to the room, during a brief press appearance at the session, which was not open to the public.

It focused on topics related to global economic security, including strategic mineral supply chains and imbalances in international trade. The meeting takes place amid efforts by allied countries to reinforce common positions on the war in Ukraine and new pressure measures against Russia.

The group also discussed the war in Eastern Europe after the release of a joint statement by the leaders reinforcing support for Kiev. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky (Servant of the People, center), participated in the negotiations with the aim of expanding the political and military support of the Western allies.

In addition to the war in Ukraine, the summit addressed the preliminary agreement between the United States and Iran. The leaders discussed measures to diversify energy chains and reduce dependence on strategic routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.

The meeting also included proposals aimed at reducing Western dependence on critical minerals produced in China, given concerns about restrictions on exports and impacts on global industrial chains. The European Union defends measures to expand investments and strengthen supply chains outside Chinese control.

Discussions also advanced on imbalances in global trade and the impacts of the advancement of artificial intelligence, focusing on regulation, the accountability of automated systems and the effects on the circulation of information.
