New research reinforces PT leadership and places Chega ahead of AD

Regarding who would be the best prime minister, Carneiro also doubled his advantage over Montenegro, which is now almost tied with Ventura.

A new Intercampus survey for , Correio da Manhã, CMTV and NOW reinforces the leadership of the Socialist Party (PS) in voting intentions. Chega now surpasses the Democratic Alliance (AD) and rises to second place in voter preferences.

According to the survey, carried out between June 10 and 16, the PS gathers 24.3% of voting intentions among respondents who say they intend to vote, improving the result in May, when it registered 23.6%. The main novelty comes, however, in the dispute for second place.

O Chega reaches 20.3% of preferencessurpassing AD, which drops to 19.5%. However, it is worth noting that the difference is within the 4% margin of error, thus configuring a technical tie between Chega and the force that is now in the Government.

The AD, led by Luís Montenegro, records the biggest drop compared to the previous monthwith a drop of 3.4 percentage points. Chega, on the other hand, shows the biggest increase among the main parties, gaining one percentage point.

Among the remaining parties, the variations are more moderate. The Liberal Initiative appears in fourth, with 6.8%, having a small drop compared to the 7% recorded in May. Livre rises from 5.2% to 5.7%, followed by CDU, which falls from 3.6% to 3%. The Left Bloc recorded a more significant drop, falling from 3.6% to 2.5%. The PAN managed a small increase from 2.1% to 2.3%.

The barometer also assesses the Portuguese’s perception of who would be the best prime minister. In this indicator, the secretary general of the PS, José Luís Carneiro remains the favoritewith 33.8%, with its lead over Montenegro doubling in the space of a month. Montenegro comes second with 22.3% and is almost tied with André Ventura, who collects 22.2% of the responses.
