President of Alesp positions himself as a name on the right in São Paulo with support from Tarcísio and Flávio Bolsonaro
(PL), state deputy and president of Alesp (Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo), launched this Saturday (June 20, 2026) his pre-candidacy for the Federal Senate at an event in Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo. The event was attended by the governor(Republicans), senator and pre-candidate for President (PL), by Valdemar Costa Neto, national president of the party, by (PP), also a pre-candidate for the Senate, and , PL leader in the Chamber of Deputies.
Prado’s campaign jingle reinforces alignment with the leaders. The song says: “He’s Tarcísio’s guy in the State, he’s Flávio’s guy too”.
A video shown on the screen narrated the pre-candidate’s life trajectory. “I want to be more than Tarcísio’s right-hand man, that’s why I’m alongside Flávio Bolsonaro and his family”said Prado in the film. When he began his speech, he asked those present to pray the Our Father holding hands.
Lucas Sanches (PL), mayor of Guarulhos, was on stage at the event; (MDB), mayor of São Paulo; federal deputy; Rosana Valle, president of PL Mulher de São Paulo; and Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), senator and coordinator of Flávio Bolsonaro’s pre-campaign.
Eduardo on the ticket
The release is made after the conviction of (PL) by the STF (Supreme Federal Court). The First Panel of the STF declared and fixed the sentence at 4 years and 2 months of imprisonment, starting in a semi-open regime and paying a 50-day fine, in the amount of R$ 162.1 thousand. The Court also ordered the loss of his position as clerk of the Federal Police.
The trial was based on a complaint from the PGR (Attorney General’s Office). According to the indictment, Eduardo worked to get the United States government to adopt measures against Brazil, including tariffs, the application of the Magnitsky Law against Minister Alexandre de Moraes and the revocation of visas of STF ministers. The objective would be to pressure the Judiciary to free Jair Bolsonaro from conviction for the coup plot.
Even though he was convicted, Eduardo participated in the event via video and reaffirmed his intention to join the ticket as a substitute. “There is no other possibility if not for us to walk together on this ticket headed by our friend André do Prado”he said. In a previous excerpt, Eduardo had stated that he intended “continue as a substitute on the ticket headed by pre-candidate André do Prado” and that Prado would be “the most voted senator in São Paulo“.
During the speech, Prado thanked Eduardo and acknowledged that the dispute for the position would originally be his. “The vacancy was his, he was the one who would be running for this vacancy in the Senate. I will honor all the right-wing agendas with Eduardo speaking, we will be together. I will honor in the Senate the trust that you are giving me, especially Bolsonaro”stated the pre-candidate.
Prado will join the 2nd seat in the Senate on the ticket headed by Tarcísio, alongside Derrite, whose candidacy had already been confirmed previously. The PL should only launch the president of Alesp for a majority position in the coalition. Derrite, in turn, highlighted in his speech the partnership with Prado at Alesp in actions to combat the PCC in Baixada Santista.
