Former mayor of Curitiba makes official his intention to run for government at an event in the capital of Paraná; Rossi Whale was present
The former mayor of Curitiba (MDB) launched his pre-candidacy for the government of Paraná this Saturday (June 20, 2026). The event was held at Sociedade Thalia, a leisure club in the center of Curitiba, and was open to the public. The party’s national president, , was present.
Greca was mayor of Curitiba 3 times: from 1993 to 1996, from 2017 to 2020 and from 2021 to 2024. He will run for Palácio Iguaçu against the senator (PL), supported by the Bolsonarists, the deputy (PDT), supported by the president (PT), and Sandro Alex (PSD), supported by the current governor (PSD).
“EXTREME. I receive with gratitude and a sense of responsibility the expressions of support for my pre-candidacy for the Government of Paraná”he wrote. The phrase is a reference to the d –device used by the agency to warn about weather events, such as heavy rain or winds– in the early hours of Saturday.

WHO IS GRECA
Rafael Greca de Macedo, born in Curitiba on March 17, 1956, is an economist and engineer. He was a councilor, constituent state deputy, federal deputy and mayor of the capital of Paraná, as well as minister of Sports and Tourism in the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso.
The former mayor had left the PSD on March 19, 2026. At the time, he told the Poder360 that the change was not due to a lack of space for his pre-candidacy in the party. He declared at the time that the migration to the MDB aimed to add parties to Governor Ratinho Jr.’s campaign for the Presidency of the Republic. “The reason is to strengthen the presidential campaign of governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, because with just one party, he cannot be a candidate for president”he declared.
Days later, on March 23, the governor of Paraná decided to run for Palácio do Planalto and decided to complete his term at Palácio Iguaçu.

ELECTION IN PARANÁ
In a survey carried out by Paraná Pesquisas, from June 7th to 9th, Greca appears in 3rd place, with 13.9% of voting intentions.
In terms of rejection, Greca appears in the same position, with a rate of 13.2%. It is below Moro, with 23.6%, and Requião Filho, who leads with 35%.
Paraná Pesquisas interviewed 1,500 people in 56 municipalities in the State of Paraná, from June 7 to 9, 2026. The margin of error is 2.6 percentage points, plus or minus. The confidence level of the survey is 95%. It is registered with the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) under number PR-06978/2026. The study cost R$135,900 and was paid for by the Liberal Party.
Candidacies must be made official by August 2026, in accordance with the Elections Law.
