Multimarket funds guarantee diversification in the investor’s portfolio

For those who want to diversify their portfolio Without needing to invest directly in different financial assets, they are a good option.

The modality allows investments in fixed income, shares, foreign exchange, interest, derivatives and other markets within a single product.

Marilia Fontes, economist and presenter of Resenha do Dinheiro, explains that they function as a ‘condominium’ of investors managed by professional managers, who have the freedom to adjust portfolio positions according to the economic scenario.

Unlike more conservative or passive products, multimarkets allow quick changes in the investment strategy according to the behavior of the economy.

“A very common mistake made by investors is trying to operate the shares of multimarket funds. The manager himself increases exposure to the stock market when he believes the market is rising and reduces positions in times of crisis. He already does this active management for the investor”, says Marilia.

Despite the flexibility, the presenter warns that investors need to pay attention to the costs charged by the funds.

“Funds generally charge a 2% management fee and a 20% performance fee. In times of low volatility or when the market is not experiencing major trends, these costs can result in lower returns for the investor”, he notes.

On the other hand, in periods of time, multimarkets may outperform more conservative products.

The topic was discussed in the table “Investor Talk”, presented by Marilia Fontes in this week’s Money Review.
