Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ignored criticism that the war against Iran would not have achieved its goals and said he believed the Persian government would collapse as a result of the military campaign. Operations in Lebanon
Earlier, the Israeli prime minister also stated that he will maintain operations in Lebanon “as long as necessary”. In parallel, the Israeli army authorized residents of the north, close to the border with Lebanese territory, to move freely and without restrictions from Monday the 22nd. For months, residents faced restrictions due to the threat of an attack by the militant group Hezbollah, supported by Iran, in southern Lebanon.
The army did not say what led to its decision on Sunday, but noted that a fragile ceasefire is in place. His announcement came as the US and Iran meet in Switzerland over their interim agreement to end the war, while Tehran insists on a ceasefire on all fronts.
President of Syria says he does not want to intervene in Lebanon
Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa said on Sunday that Syria does not wish to intervene militarily in Lebanon, despite US President Donald Trump’s remarks suggesting that Syria could help “take care of Hezbollah”.
Al-Sharaa’s comments came in an interview with UAE network Al Mashhad on Sunday. He said the Republican’s remarks were “misconstrued.”
