An international research team has discovered a species of spider with extraordinary, unprecedented abilities in the rainforest of the Australian state of Queensland. With her ingenious method of catching prey, she literally wraps up a very specific type of ant: she stretches out several threads that the ants bite on to. They are then catapulted into the central spider web. “The ultimate specialization,” say the researchers.
