Astrid Fontenelle, who had initially praised Rodrigo’s stance, encouraging him to engage in the anti-racist fight, deleted the message and shared a video stating that, after being warned by her son, Gabriel Fontenelle de Brito, 18, of a crime.
“The discussion at the moment, which involves me, is about a racial crime that, after six years, a long time, Thelminha won. And then, the racist in question made a post there, called me, annoyed me. I said I had nothing to say,” she explained.
The presenter claimed to have made a mistake and confessed to having learned about the call from her son “whiteness pact”a concept created by psychologist and researcher Cida Beto, in which white people mitigate violence committed by other white people against racialized people.
“I was wrong in the following aspect: I said: ‘he was wrong, but he committed a crime’. And that needs to be hammered home. And I called him to the anti-racist fight. I was wrong again. I learned a little better today the size and dimension of the pact of whiteness”, he said.
According to internet users, the presenter also deleted the comment and stopped following Rodrigo on Instagram.
