Campaign seeks to raise funds to repatriate to India the bodies of Pardeep and Kiara Malhotra, who died after their father threw himself with his daughter from the eighth floor of a building in Santarém, in a case marked by allegations of domestic violence.
The family of Pardeep and Kiara Malhotra launched a fundraising campaign to repatriate to India the bodies of the 33-year-old man and his 4-year-old daughter, who died in the early hours of Sunday, in Santarém, after the father threw himself from the eighth floor of a building with the child in his lap.
The campaign, created on GoFundMe with the title ““, asks for help to bring father and daughter “back to India”. The objective is to raise 7.000 eurosan amount that will be used to pay for the repatriation and transportation of the bodies, funeral ceremonies, legal and administrative costs and immediate support for the family.
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the tragic and unexpected passing of Pardeep Malhotra and Kiara Malhotra in Portugal”, reads the campaign text. The family adds that they wish both could be buried in their homeland, with family and loved ones.
According to , repatriation costs vary between 3,500 and 8,000 euros per corpse. The newspaper also states that the money raised is also intended to immediately support bereaved family members. At the time of this edition, the campaign had collected 9 donations, totaling 1,145 euros.
The case occurred in a context of domestic violence. At around 3 am on Sunday, after a family argument, Pardeep from the eighth floor. Both died following the fall.
Pardeep would already have to take revenge on his partner, and the child was flagged by the CPCJ. Kiara’s mother filed two charges of domestic violence against Pardeep. The last one was still occurring and would have been marked by a failure of justice, due to a delay in providing a translator.
According to , Pardeep, who had already been indicted for domestic violence in 2024, and the partner, the child’s mother, were in separation process.
On the Friday before the tragedy, the woman was called to the PSP station in Santarém, but declared that had resumed the relationship and that he wanted to drop the complaint. He described his companion as “a good father” who sometimes had “daydreams“.
The case continues to be investigated by the Civil Police.
