The PSOL, the target of criticism from federal deputy Erika Hilton (SP) due to differences in the distribution of resources for this year’s campaign, will have R$131,506,284 from the electoral fund to spend on its candidacies. The value represents an increase of 31.4% compared to the 2022 elections, when the party had just over R$100 million. Last Tuesday, Erika took to social media to question the criteria adopted for campaign financing, in addition to comparing the amount to be received by her with the budget expected for other names.
For 2026, PSOL is the 12th party with the most available funds from the electoral fund. The one leading the list is the PL, with around R$881.6 million, followed by the PT, with approximately R$615.3 million. Completing the podium is União Brasil, with around R$526.2 million.
In the previous scenario, in 2022, PSOL occupied 14th place. One of the main objectives of the acronym — which makes up the PSOL-Rede Federation — in this year’s elections is to overcome the barrier clause, the minimum performance required to gain access to party funds and TV time.

Fight at PSOL
In her statement, Erika mentioned members who will have better access even with less time in Congress or in the PSOL-Rede federation. She also cited state deputies Renata Souza (RJ) and Carlos Giannazi (SP) and councilor Rick Azevedo (RJ) as other parliamentarians dissatisfied with the management.
“Today, Juliano Medeiros (pre-candidate for the Chamber for São Paulo), president of the PSOL-Rede Federation, in his first candidacy, would have exactly the same priority as me. Manuela d’Ávila (pre-candidate for the Senate for Rio Grande do Sul), who has just arrived at the party, is expected to receive more than double. I respect their trajectory and would love to see them elected, but this is white and cis privilege overriding everything: the agreements made with us, serious electoral calculations… political intelligence went a long way”, he stated.
Erika argues that there is an “attempt to suffocate those on the front line to the detriment of a very specific pre-candidacy profile, of groups that only think about themselves and are, once again, risking the viability of the PSOL”.
“The distribution of electoral resources is in accordance with these objectives. The incentive — including financial, in which PSOL is a pioneer — for candidacies from women, black people, indigenous people, LGBTs and PCDs is a consolidated policy, and there is no debate around changes in this regard”, says the acronym.

Deputy will have R$ 2.3 million
One day after the deputy’s statement about PSOL’s transfers to her electoral campaign, from the electoral fund for the parliamentarian’s re-election. The total is higher than the R$2.2 million to be received by other party deputies seeking new mandates in the Chamber, and is 61.5% higher than the resource received by Erika in 2022.

In March, Erika’s group, Solidarity Revolution, decided to contest this year’s elections for PSOL, even after the national directory decided not to join the PT-PCdoB-PV federation. The union was defended by the deputy and the minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Guilherme Boulos.
“I was promised that I would be in the vote-getting range when I chose to remain in PSOL. It was clear that my campaign would receive a substantially higher amount than the range of deputies up for re-election. The agreement was not fulfilled”, says Erika.
Internally, the wing opposing Erika’s understands that the parliamentarian’s demonstration has three main objectives: bargaining for the growth of the value of the fund allocated to her campaign, working for the election of Natália Boulos to the Chamber and starting to build a narrative for the departure of the party in the near future.

Members of the national board argue that the higher allocation to Erika already represents “deference to her”. According to the acronym, in 2022, no candidate received more than the others, according to the bands. Even the vote puller that year, Guilherme Boulos, received less than candidates up for re-election, according to the acronym.
Sources linked to the party’s leadership say that Erika hoped to receive the ceiling authorized by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for parties to reserve for candidacies for federal deputy. In the 2022 election, this amount was R$3.1 million. The expectation is that the Court will maintain the level this year or make a slight adjustment. The deadline for the decision is July 20th.
Hilton’s allies question the interpretation that the deputy’s demonstration is a “rehearsal” to leave the party. They claim that the parliamentarian would not need an “excuse” like this, after the publication of a public letter from the Solidarity Revolution after the PSOL leadership, under the command of Paula Coradi, rejected by a majority the formation of a federation with the PT.
