Alcoutim City Hall will transfer 175 thousand euros to the four parish councils in the municipality, in support for investments in infrastructure, acquisition of equipment and improvement of services provided to the population.
The funds will be distributed among the parishes of Martim Longo, Vaqueiros, Giões and the Union of Parishes of Alcoutim and Pereiro, allowing the financing of interventions considered a priority by the respective executives.
In Martim Longo, municipal support will be used to acquire land close to the local cemetery and carry out work on that equipment. Part of the amount is also allocated to organizing festivities promoted by the parish.
Support covers cemeteries, vehicles and public spaces
In Vaqueiros, the financial transfer will make it possible to move forward with the expansion of the local cemetery and guarantee the acquisition of a light goods vehicle to support the activities of the Parish Council.
The Union of Parishes of Alcoutim and Pereiro will use the funds to purchase a nine-seater van intended for transporting users who need to use the Health Center’s services, namely for consultations, physiotherapy treatments and nursing care.
The intervention also includes the arrangement of the external garden of the União das Freguesias headquarters.
In Goiânia, support will be channeled towards enhancing the surroundings of the Fonte Santa Picnic Park, through various improvements to that leisure and coexistence space.
Paulo Paulino highlights proximity responses
According to the president of Alcoutim City Council, Paulo Paulino, this support reflects the Municipality’s commitment to the balanced development of the territory and to strengthening the parishes’ intervention capacity.
“These are investments that respond to the concrete needs of the population and that allow parish councils to continue playing a fundamental role in improving the living conditions of communities. The Municipality remains alongside these partners, supporting projects that contribute to territorial cohesion and the quality of services provided to citizens”, highlights the mayor.
With this transfer of funds, institutional cooperation with parishes is reinforced, recognizing their role in implementing proximity responses and promoting local development.
