Slovakia is sending a rescue team to Venezuela affected by the earthquake. It will consist of 15 firefighters, four dog handlers and two search dogs along with two tons of material. Minister of the Interior Matúš Šutaj Eštok informed about this on the social network. “On Sunday mornings, they go out to help where it is most needed,” Šutaj Eštok said.
Two consecutive earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela overnight Thursday. The northern state of La Guaira and the coastal area north of Caracas experienced the greatest damage. Near the epicenter in Morón, Carabobo state, houses have collapsed and residents are without water and electricity. The earthquake claimed 589 lives. Approximately 3,000 people were injured and dozens of people were rescued.
