Slovakia is preparing for historic extremes, while the fall of temperature records is practically certain, according to meteorologists. The extraordinary heat will hit with full force already this Saturday, when temperatures up to +39 °C are expected in the west of the country. However, the real peak of the heat wave will arrive on Sunday and Monday, informs .
Numerical models predict that in the hottest locations, thermometers will easily exceed +40 °C, while attacking absolute maxima at a terrifying level of +41 to +42 °C is also not excluded. In addition, compared to the original forecasts, the situation has worsened.
Initially, it was expected that already on Monday, the cold front will bring a slight cooling to western Slovakia, and the forties will move only to the east and south of central Slovakia. This one however, according to the latest data, the queue will be delayed. It means that the extreme heat will last significantly longer in the entire territory and threaten us not only during Monday, but also with great probability during Tuesday.
More significant relief from the scorching temperatures will come only in the second half of next week. When the delayed cold front finally penetrates our territory, it will bring with it a drastic change in weather. Temperatures start to drop gradually and significantly, while by the end of next week, in some areas of Slovakia it will cool down by an abysmal 15 °C compared to its extreme beginning.
