Can a phone charger cause a fire?
Recently, there has been more and more talk about the potential dangers of using chargers. There have been reports that they could ignite and cause a fire. Experts indicate that such a risk does exist, but it is very low. In today’s world, almost all of us have several chargers at home, and yet we don’t hear reports of mass fires. Modern devices are relatively safe, and their use should not lead to situations that pose a threat to life or health. However, it is worth remembering that although the risk of fire from the charger is small, it does not mean that it does not exist at all.
Specialists also warn that this is incorrect. In the case of chargers, this means leaving them in the socket 24 hours a day, as well as charging phones at night, under the pillow. In such a situation, it may actually overheat and catch fire.
Is it safe to use chargers in hot weather?
The tropical heat that is sweeping through Poland may increase the risk of fire resulting from faulty electrical installations or overheating of equipment. Again though, it’s not a very high risk. However, there are a few rules to follow. In hot weather above 35 degrees Celsius, limit the use of electronic devices. In such weather, they may not only overheat, but also increase the temperature in the room. A TV or constantly running computer can warm up a room by up to 3 degrees Celsius. If the devices start to make more and more noise and their casing is hot, turn them off. Additionally, remember to unplug any sockets that you are not currently using. Also avoid storing electronic devices, including chargers, in direct sunlight, where they can become dangerously hot very quickly.
