The United States Forces carried out new attacks against multiple targets in Iran this Saturday, 27th, “by order of the commander in chief”, according to a statement from the US Central Command (Centcom) published on the official profile of X. The term “commander in chief” is a reference to US President Donald Trump.
According to the text, the attacks occur after a new incident involving commercial shipping. Centcom claims that after the American strikes in response to the Iranian attack on the M/V Ever Lovely, Iran would have had the chance to comply with a ceasefire agreement, but did not do so.
According to the command, Iranian forces launched an attack drone that hit the oil tanker M/T Kiku at 5:30 am (Brasília time), while the Panama-flagged vessel was transiting near the Strait of Hormuz with more than two million barrels of crude oil.
Centcom claims that US military aircraft have targeted Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities and mine-laying capabilities.
According to the statement, commercial vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz continues. The command adds that American forces remain “vigilant, lethal and ready.”
