The terrifying incident took place on Wednesday, June 24 at around one o’clock in the afternoon in a popular nature site on Cape Kamenjak, which is located near the city of Pula. The young Italian decided to take a risky jump from a massive eight-meter cliff, but during the fall she lost the right direction and fell uncontrollably into the shallow part of the sea, where she hit the bottom hard with her back. One fatal mistake almost cost the young woman her life. Before jumping, she did not check at all whether the water was deep enough under her.
After the incident, other swimmers immediately ran to the woman and provided her with first aid until the emergency medical service arrived.. The ambulance then quickly transported her to the hospital in Pula. After a series of examinations, the doctors there confirmed that the patient had suffered serious injuries.

Following this case, the Istrian police urged local residents and visiting tourists to be especially careful when jumping into the water. The security forces urgently appeal to people not to take unnecessary risks and to fundamentally avoid jumping from great heights, especially in places where the exact depth of the sea is not known at all. The police also strongly advise against gambling with your health on rocks and cliffs that are not officially designated for such activities.
