Studies carried out by Professor Gilcione Costa show that the most likely result of the match is a draw. The teams have a 40.44% chance of finishing equal after 90 minutes.
In the case of a winner, the team appears to have more chances of triumph: 36.34% for the Canarinho team against 23.22% for the Japanese. With extra time and penalties, the team has a 56.6% chance of qualifying against 43.4% for the team.

To arrive at the result, the Mathematics Department at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) carried out five million simulations.

The Brazilian team is the fifth most likely to win the World Cup, according to a study carried out by the Opta supercomputer. France is the big favorite, with an 18.7% chance of lifting the cup and winning the third world championship. The Blues are followed by Argentina (16.3%), Spain (13.5%) and England (9.7%).
