According to the newspaper L’Est Républicain, an aircraft carrying a group of parachutists for free fall crashed.
The paper also reports that the crashed aircraft is a German Pilatus, a model of aircraft traditionally used to transport paratroopers and perform parachute jumps.
Search and rescue operation
French authorities have reportedly cordoned off the area and are conducting a search and rescue operation.
The so far account of the victims was confirmed by the prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle, Yves Seguy, while the competent authorities are at the scene and are investigating the circumstances under which the tragedy occurred. Dead skydiving instructors and trainees
