A group of 147 Venezuelans deported from the United States arrived in the country on June 24, a few hours before the earthquakes that shook northern Venezuela, and the vast majority died behind him hotel collapse where the authorities had them temporarily housed in La Guaira.
On a flight from Miamilos deported immigrants by USA they returned to Venezuela and they arrived at the country through the now destroyed Simón Bolívar International Airport of Maiquetía the same day the earthquakes occurred. They arrived six hours before the tragedy that engulfed Venezuela began, reports the Ansa Latina agency.
After the arrival procedures, the group – made up of 120 men, 19 women, five boys and two girls – was transferred to state custody al La Llanada Sanitary Hotel, in La Guairain the La Llanada de Macuto sector, a facility managed by the Hipólita Black Mission Foundationan entity dependent on the Venezuelan Government.
Hours later, the two earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 caused the collapse of the structure, like many others in La Guaira. According to testimonies of survivors released by relatives, only 12 people managed to emerge alive from the rubble of the aforementioned hotel establishment. “Of those deported, we were left with 12,” said one of the survivors.
