Focus: Market interrupts series of 15 consecutive increases in IPCA projection

The market interrupted high projections for Brazilian inflation after 15 consecutive weeks of increases. The expectation for the IPCA (Broad Consumer Price Index) for this year, released this Monday (29) in the BC (Central Bank) Focus report, remained at 5.33%.

Despite the lack of variation for inflation in 2026, the bulletin estimated an increase for 2027, which went from 4.15% to 4.17%. The projection for 2028 remained in line with the previous release, at 3.70%.

In addition to inflation, the interest rate also remained at the same projection as last week, at 14%. For the next two years, the estimate for Selic was 12 for 2027 and 10.5% for 2028.
