On Friday, June 26, the 18th edition of the Slovak Woman of the Year readers’ poll culminated with a gala evening at the Slovak Philharmonic. During the festive evening in Bratislava’s Reduta, 12 bronze statuettes were handed over. The title in the field of sports was presented by former tennis player Dominika Cibulková. The winner was cyclist Viktória Chladoňová, who at the age of nineteen has six medals from the World Championships in three different cycling disciplines.
The Slovak Woman of the Year survey is a prestigious project whose main goal is to make women who participate in the country’s growth as visible as possible. It is a continuation of the event that the weekly Slovenka organized in the past under the title Woman of the Year and Man of the Year. The winners in the individual categories were decided by television viewers in the form of SMS voting, and Slovenka readers by means of coupons and internet voting.
Dominika Cibulková won her Slovak Woman of the Year award in the Sport category back in 2014. She also celebrated successful women during the gala evening in June. How does she herself feel as the successful Slovak? “Thank you very much for such a compliment, of course, it’s always a compliment. Even today I received a compliment backstage and someone said: “But don’t flatter Dominika so much.” That it must be unpleasant, but I don’t think any woman is uncomfortable getting such nice compliments, so thank you.” she said honestly to Koktejl.sk with musician Teri Čikoš.
She is happy that she could be a part of that evening. “And as I was asked before if I’m not sorry that I no longer receive these awards… I think that’s completely normal, it’s the cycle of life. And not only the life of an athlete, that I really have this beautiful award at home and it’s just right. And as I said, I was approached to hand it over, and I simply think that this is already my mission, which I am happy to do,” explained the former athlete.
A detail that many people noticed
After the end of her tennis career, Dominika Cibulková became a mother and with her former partner Michal Navar raises her son Jakubek and daughter Ninka. Family life with two children shows on social networks. At a prestigious event in Bratislava, she highlighted her slim figure in a tight burgundy dress, which her fans have seen before. She wore them in 2025 on her daughter Ninka’s birthday, when she was still a couple with Navar. The couple separated this year and divorce proceedings are ongoing.
“That’s a bit of a specialty because, and I guess it hasn’t happened to me that I’ve worn a dress twice at an event. Well, events… I wore this dress to my daughter’s birthday party last year when she was actually two. Well, I said to myself that I think that this place… that they simply deserve another nice place like this, so I said to myself, okay, I’ll take them a second time, I’ll recycle them, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” she added.
The celebration of the second birthday of Dominika Cibulková’s daughter took place in the Primate’s Palace in Bratislava and it was pure luxury. “It’s a shame to just wear clothes for one occasion, so I believe that by this I will also support other women who think that it is a faux pas, but believe me, it is not,” advises Dominika Cibulková.
