Alcolumbre rules out accelerated rite to vote on PEC for health agents

The president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), ruled out this Tuesday (30) an accelerated procedure to vote on the PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution) that guarantees special retirement for community health workers. According to him, the period of five sessions will be respected to deliberate the text in the first round.

This Tuesday’s session was the first in this count. After voting in the first round, the senator proposed that a break be voted on to speed up voting in the 2nd round. Even so, Alcolumbre highlighted that voting in the second round will not take place on the same day.

The text is seen as an issue with great fiscal impact. The Ministry of Social Security estimates that the project could cost at least R$28 billion for public coffers.

The PEC was approved by the Senate’s CCJ (Constitution and Justice Committee) on June 10 and is ready to be deliberated in the plenary.
