São Gelados is once again associated, for the second consecutive year, with the “Um Sorvete pela Paz” initiative, a solidarity fundraising campaign in support of Doctors Without Borders and its projects in the Middle East.
The action takes place on the 18th and 19th of July, in Olhão, and once again features the watermelon flavor as its protagonist, presented by the brand as a “symbol of solidarity with the Palestinian people”.
After the success of the first edition, in which São Gelados managed to donate more than R$1,000 to Doctors Without Borders, the ice cream shop returns to the campaign with the aim of transforming the purchase of an ice cream into a concrete gesture of solidarity.
According to São Gelados, “it was a result that moved us deeply and showed, in a simple and concrete way, how a small choice, like buying an ice cream, can become part of a larger network of solidarity”.
Watermelon becomes a supportive flavor again
During the 18th and 19th of July, whoever chooses the watermelon flavor at São Gelados will be contributing to supporting the work of Doctors Without Borders with civilian populations in Gaza, Palestine and the Middle East.
The “Um Sorvete pela Paz” initiative was born with the aim of uniting artisanal ice cream shops and citizens in a broad solidarity campaign. In the previous edition, more than 240 establishments joined, from Sicily to Finland, giving rise to a solidarity network that went beyond Italian borders.
All donations raised will be used for Doctors Without Borders’ intervention in humanitarian emergency contexts, where civilian populations face a lack of access to medical care, shortages of medicines and essential goods, as well as the destruction of hospitals, housing and fundamental infrastructure.
The organization states that, in Palestine, “where a genocide has been ongoing for more than two years”, hunger has been used as a weapon of war, worsening an already dramatic humanitarian situation. Also in Lebanon, he adds, the crisis remains serious, with attacks affecting the civilian population and health structures.
Solidarity through a simple gesture
“Behind every humanitarian emergency there are people who need care, protection and assistance”, declares Laura Perrotta, director of fundraising at MSF Italy. “With this initiative we want to remember that a simple gesture, like an ice cream, is enough to put us on the right side, alongside those who suffer.”
For São Gelados, participating again in “Um Gelado pela Paz” means putting the daily work of the ice cream shop, based on artisanal ice cream made with care, attention and respect for the ingredients, at the service of a greater cause.
During these two days, the brand emphasizes, “the watermelon flavor will not just be a summer ice cream. It will be a gesture of presence, awareness and peace.”
The public is waiting in Olhão, on the 18th and 19th of July, to transform an ice cream into a concrete contribution for those who need it most.
