Heavy rains caused flooding in several regions, while the drought in Bogotá led to the adoption of water rationing
The president of , Gustavo Petro, declared a state of national disaster this Sunday (10) due to the heavy rains that caused in several regions and the drought that has already led to the adoption of water rationing in Bogotá. “The country is in a disaster situation due to climate variations, which are generating unpredictable impacts and increasing the vulnerability of territories,” Petro said in a press conference after a meeting with risk management authorities.
According to the National Risk and Disaster Management Unit (UGRD), the weekend’s storms affected 27 of Colombia’s 32 departments. There is no information about victims so far, according to the UGRD bulletin.
