Research carried out by IPC Maps highlights a 3.7% increase in the opening of new businesses from 2022 to 2023, with more than 200 thousand businesses and wholesalers opened
A survey carried out by IPC Maps, an institution specializing in Brazilians, shows that prices cannot reach R$478 billion this year. According to the study, the value is 9% above that recorded in 2023. Marcos Pazzini, responsible for the research, attributes this growth to the reduction in unemployment, which, in turn, increases family income and boosts the sector. The increase in household income favors consumption, especially of retail items, which generates a greater demand for products and labor, creating a virtuous cycle of economic growth.
Since 2023, retail trade, which was severely impacted during the pandemic, has begun to show signs of recovery. The research highlights a 3.7% increase in the opening of new businesses from 2022 to 2023, with more than 200 thousand stores and wholesalers opened, totaling more than 5 million units in Brazil. Despite this growth, commerce still shows the smallest increase in terms of number of companies among the four basic sectors of the economy: industry, commerce, services and agribusiness compared to the pre-pandemic period.
The clothing sector, in particular, is highlighted in the research, with projections of being responsible for more than R$163 billion in 2024. Marcos Pazzini believes that the economy should continue growing in 2025, but considers that the federal government needs to make adjustments to further boost the sector.
