The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the manipulation of games and sports bets marked Tuesday (12) the testimonies of André Pereira Cardoso Gelfi, president of the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Game (IBJR), and Giovanni Rocco Neto, National Secretary sports bets and economic development of the sport.
The testimonials are scheduled to start at 2:30 pm.
The author of the two invitation requests is the CPI rapporteur, senator Romário (PL-RJ). He argues that it is essential for the CPI to be aware of the IBJR’s position regarding the regulation of sports betting and good “responsible gaming” practices.

Romário notes, in his application, that the entity has, among its members, the main betting houses operating in Brazil. In addition, the senator argues that IBJR had a remarkable presence in discussions on the regulation of sports bets in recent years, defending good practices in the areas of transparency and regulation, responsible game, fraud prevention and combating corruption.
Ministry of Sports
According to Romário, listening to Giovanni Rocco Neto is also relevant because the newly created National Secretariat of Sports and Economic Development of Sport, linked to the Ministry of Sport, has as attributions the monitoring and supervision of issues related to sports bets, ensuring that This activity does not generate harmful effects on the integrity of games or the healthy development of the sport.
“This CPI intends to hear from the secretary a report on the action plans that are being designed, in addition to learning about the supervisory structure that is being set up to play this important role in combating the manipulation of sports betting,” says the request.
