Scholz signals that he should anticipate voting in Germany

The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholzsaid on Sunday (10) that he would be willing to call a confidence vote in Parliament before Christmas, a move that would pave the way for early elections after the collapse of his tripartite government coalition.

The timeline is earlier than the January date he proposed last week and comes after politicians and the public called for a faster vote.

Europe’s biggest economy was thrown into an impasse last week by disagreements over how much money the government should spend to encourage growth and support Ukraine.

“I’m not hanging on to my job,” he said in an interview on ARD television.
