President-elect Donald Trump announced that Tom Homan, the former director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), will serve as “border czar” in his next administration. TASR informs about it according to the AP news agency.
“I am pleased to announce that Former ICE Director and border control stalwart Tom Homan will join the Trump administration in charge of our nation’s borders.” Trump wrote late Sunday on his social platform Truth Social.
It was generally expected that Homan will join Trump’s second administration in a border-related position. In addition to overseeing the southern and northern borders and “maritime and aviation security,” Trump said Homan “will be in charge of all deportations of illegal aliens back to their country of origin,” which is the main part of the program of the newly elected president.
According to Trump, he has “no doubt” that Homan “will do a fantastic and long-awaited job”. According to CNN, on Sunday, Trump offered the position of United States ambassador to the United Nations to the Republican member of the House of Representatives, Elise Stefanik.
