Donald Trump has nominated a Lebanese-American businessman as Middle East adviser

Massad Boulos, the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany, played an important role in the election campaign, where he tried to mobilize Arab-American and Muslim voters, according to AFP.

United States President-elect Donald Trump said on Sunday that he has chosen Lebanese-American businessman Massad Boulos as his top adviser on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs. Trump announced the decision on the Truth Social platform, TASR reports based on a Reuters report. “I am proud to announce that Massad Boulos will serve as Senior Advisor to the President on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs,” Trump wrote.

The billionaire with extensive business ties in Nigeria will take on a challenging position, given that the war between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas continues in the Gaza Strip, only a fragile truce has been concluded in Lebanon between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah, and rebel forces in Syria are currently advancing against the government of Bashar Assad, reminds AFP.

Boulos was born in Lebanon but moved to Texas as a teenager. He studied at the University of Houston, where he also received a law degree and became a US citizen. “Massad is an outstanding lawyer and highly respected leader in the world of business with extensive experience on the international stage,” Trump said of the nomination.

“(Massad) has been a longtime supporter of Republican and conservative values, an asset to my campaign, and has also played an important role in building new broad partnerships with the Arab community,” added Trump.

At the same time, the Republican also on Saturday selected the father-in-law of one of the children, real estate magnate Charles Kushner, who will become the US ambassador to France, to his administration.
