Belmira Alves Ribeiro’s body was wrapped in blankets, naked and showed signs of violence on her neck, according to information from the Goiás Military Police (PMGO).

According to investigations, three suspects were identified: one older and two minors. The teenagers were apprehended and remain at the disposal of the courts. The older man was released after undergoing a custody hearing. According to the delegate responsible for the case, the crime was initially registered as a robbery, as items from the victim’s home, such as a television and two gas cylinders, were stolen.
The body was located inside the truck, which was jammed, alongside tools, boards and disturbed earth, suggesting that the suspects tried to remove the vehicle from the scene. Inside the car, police found a boot, a black glove, two beer cans, a bottle of water, an open padlock and a black blouse in the back seat.
Crime dynamics
During interrogations, the suspects presented conflicting versions. While the older man claimed to have stayed outside collecting the objects while the minor had committed the murder and stated that his participation was limited to stealing goods. According to him, the body would be thrown into the Macacos River, and the truck would be sold in Goiânia. The teenagers held each other responsible for carrying out the murder.
According to the police, the crime scene showed signs that Belmira had been killed inside the house, before being placed in the back of the vehicle.
The action to arrest the suspects was carried out less than 20 hours after the crime. They were all presented at the Águas Lindas Civil Police Station. The police continue to investigate the case to clarify all the circumstances of the homicide.
